A few years ago, only high end and mid-range phones had premium-grade features. But things seem to be changing fast. There are now many big mobile phone brands that are keen to ensure that customers in the low-end market also get to own phones with premium-grade touch and Infinix is one of them. For a long time, Infinix has dominated the low-end market in Kenya. They have recorded massive success in this highly competitive market because they sell phones with premium looking aesthetics and features at a very affordable price. Since its launch, the Infinix Smart 3 has performed very well in the Kenyan market. It is packed with many exclusive features including a 5.5-inch display, aesthetically pleasing display, MediaTek chipset, and much more.
Infinix Smart 3 display and design
At first glance, the smart 3 can be mistaken for a premium grade phone. This is because of its glossy, classy finish. The back panel is made of sturdy, shiny plastic with fantastic gradient finish. In fact, if you view this phone from a distant, you will mistake the plastic back for a glass. The phone’s edges are well rounded and provide a comfortable feel on hands. The power button and the volume rocker sit on the right and the SIM slot that houses the Nano Sim slot and the Micro SD that can be extended up to 256GB sit on the left. The Micro USB port, single speaker and the 3.5mm headphone jack sit on the bottom edge of the phone.
The Infinix Smart 3 features a massive 5.5-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 720 by 1520 pixels resolution and 271 PPI. This screen delivers impressive colors and great viewing angles. If you love watching movies on the phone, then this is the right phone for you. The screen visibility is excellent both indoors and outdoors. Despite having a notch, this phone has relatively thin bezels and chin. The phone screen to body ratio is 80.7%, which is remarkable for a budget phone.
Hardware, software, and performance
The Smart 3 is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22, a quad-core chipset with cortex A53 core clocked at 2.0. This chipset is powerful enough to perform your typical day to day take like browsing, calling, texting, among many others without lags. The PowerVR GE8320 GPU handles all the phone’s graphics. The chipset is supported by 1 GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The Smart 3 runs on a custom XOS 5.0 skin based on the latest Android OS, the Android 9 Pie.
The Infinix Smart 3 rear-facing camera is equipped with 13MP with f/1.8 aperture. The front-facing camera is packed with an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Camera features include AI enhancement, AI screen detection, AIHDR, and PDAF.
Battery and extras
A 3030 mAh non-removable battery powers the Infinix Smart 3. The phone is available in various colors Midnight Back, Macha Brown, Bordeaux Red and Cosmic Purple.
