Nokia 2.2 Video Reviews
HMD Global has not launched smartphones aggressively in 2019 as it did in 2018. This is likely because the company wants to streamline its portfolio as it continues expanding its market share. Nokia 2.2 is one of the budget phones made by the Finland-based company this year. It is a pretty decent budget device – one of the best phones below 10000 in Kenya right now. It comes a few months after the Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 and is a major upgrade from 2018’s Nokia 2.1. Everything is different. It looks different and has a completely different set of internals. Like other phones from HMD global, it is an Android One device with many attractive features that make it stand out compared to other devices in its price range.
Nokia 2.2 Design and Display
This smartphone comes with a waterdrop notch display. This makes it the 3rd phone from the Finish company with this type of display design. Design-wise, this phone has a lot in common with Nokia 4.2. It has thinner bezels than its predecessor and is generally a better-looking smartphone. By having smaller bezels, HMD Global was able to fit a larger display on a phone that is almost the same size as its predecessor, the Nokia 2.1.
The glossy back of this phone is plastic. This cover is removable. Removing this cover gives you access to the card slots and the removable battery. Nokia 2.2 is one of the very few phones in the market that allow you to swap your old battery with a new one.
This smartphone accepts two SIM card and a microSD card. Only two colors are available in Kenya, Tungsten Black, and Steel. If these colors are not appealing, you can use Xpress-On covers to create the look you want. These coves come in Pink Sand, Taurus Green and Ice Blue colors.
Nokia 2.2 comes with a 5.7 inches display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1520 pixels with 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen displays images with accurate colors and is pretty pleasant to look at. It bright indoors and you will also be able to view content in direct sunlight.
Hardware and Software
Nokia 2.2 has pretty good hardware for its price. It is powered by MediaTek Helio A22 chipset which is a major upgrade of the Snapdragon 425 chipset which powered its predecessor. The processor is paired with 2GB of RAM. Basic apps will run on this smartphone without any issues. However, you may have some problems if you try to run applications that need a lot of resources. If you are an average user, running the usual everyday apps, this phone will serve you well. The internal storage space is 16GB. There is a microSD slot allowing the use of cards of up to 400GB.
Android v9.0 Pie runs the show. Since its an Android One device you should expect timely security updates from Google. This is one of the best devices you can buy if you want a cheap phone with stock Android.
Nokia 2.2 Camera performance
This device has a single 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP front-facing camera. Both cameras capture quality images in places with good light. Camera performance is pretty good, especially when you consider the price tag.
Nokia 2.2 is powered by a 3000mAh. Considering the fact that this device has a 720p display, the battery can easily power it through a day of moderate to heavy use on a single charge. As stated earlier, the battery is removable. Unfortunately, there is no fast charging. It takes almost 3 hours to charge it from zero to 100 percent.
Nokia 2.2 Pros
- Runs a pure version of Android (Android One)
- Good battery life
- Battery is removable
- Has a Google Assistant button
This is the best cheap Nokia phone that you can buy right now. It is also one of the best phones below 10,000 Kenyan shillings you can purchase in Kenya right now. Nokia 2.2 is also a good device for anyone who loves devices with stock Android. It is Android Q ready.
